How Enviro Structured Water RO Plant Works
A typical Enviro system can incorporate several treatment stages.
1. Raw Water Storage
Water from a borewell, municipal supply, tanker or another approved source is collected in a raw-water storage tank.
The tank provides a buffer between the incoming water supply and the treatment system.
2. Pretreatment
Pretreatment protects the RO membrane from excessive fouling and scaling.
Depending on the raw-water quality, the system may include:
Multigrade sand filter
Activated carbon filter
Iron removal filter
Water softener
Antiscalant dosing
Micron cartridge filter
pH correction
Other specialized treatment
Pretreatment is one of the most important parts of an RO plant because membrane performance depends heavily on feed-water quality.
3. Micron Filtration
A cartridge filter is normally installed before the high-pressure pump and RO membrane.
It helps reduce fine suspended particles that may otherwise reach the membrane assembly.
Typical cartridge ratings may be selected according to the plant design and membrane manufacturer's requirements.
4. High-Pressure Pump
The RO membrane requires adequate feed pressure to operate.
The high-pressure pump supplies the pressure necessary for water to pass through the membrane.
Pump selection depends on:
RO capacity
Membrane type
Number of membranes
Feed-water TDS
Temperature
Recovery
Required operating pressure
A correctly selected pump helps maintain stable membrane performance.
5. Reverse Osmosis Membrane
The RO membrane is the primary desalination stage.
Water under pressure passes across the membrane surface. A portion permeates through the membrane while concentrated water exits as reject.
The RO stage can significantly reduce dissolved solids and several other contaminants, although actual removal performance depends on membrane type, operating conditions and feed-water chemistry.
