The operating principle is straightforward.
Water enters the booster pump from the storage tank or incoming water source.
The pump increases the water pressure and supplies the building distribution network.
A pressure sensor continuously monitors the discharge pressure.
The controller compares the actual pressure with the required set pressure.
If pressure is too low, the VFD increases the motor speed.
If pressure reaches the required level, the pump reduces its speed.
When demand falls significantly, the pump can operate at a lower speed or stop, depending on the control configuration.
This creates a feedback loop:
Water Demand → Pressure Change → Sensor → Controller → VFD → Motor Speed → Pump Output
The result is a dynamic water pressure system rather than a simple ON/OFF pumping arrangement.
